Emails from your mailbox or any other folder can be downloaded to your computer for archiving or backup. When exporting, the emails will be saved as a single .MBOX file.
How to export emails through Horde.
Horde export feature allows you to create backups of important mail folders.
To export your emails:
- Log in to your Horde Webmail. For instructions, please refer to the article How to access Webmail?
- Right-click the folder from which you want to export messages. For example, to export the contents of your inbox, right-click the inbox icon in the left menu and select Export.
- In the pop-up window, choose to upload an uncompressed .mbox or compressed .zip file.
- Click OK on the pop-up window to start downloading the .mbox or .zip file.
How to import emails through Horde.
Your email must be in an .mbox or .eml file to be imported into Horde. Unzip your file first if you received a .zip file.
To import your emails:
- Log in to your Horde Webmail. For instructions, please refer to the article How to access Webmail?
- Right-click the folder from which you want to import mail. For example, to import the contents of your inbox, right-click the Inbox icon in the left menu and select Import.
- The pop-up window will allow you to import either an .eml file or an .mbox file.
- Click OK on the pop-up window to start importing emails to the folder you selected.
If successful import, it will show a green message bar with details.

If the import failed, it will show a red error bar. This is usually the result of trying to import a compressed or corrupted file.
