A redirect allows you to redirect one domain to another, for a specific website or web page.
1. To create a redirect, go to cPanel > Domains
2. Click on Redirects.
3. Fill in the fields with the necessary information:
- Choose the redirect type:
- Permanent (301): Recommended for SEO, tells search engines the URL has permanently moved.
- Temporary (302): Use if the redirection is only for a short time.
- Select your domain:
- If you have multiple domains, select the one you want to redirect from the dropdown list.
- Enter the destination URL:
- In the “Redirects to” field, enter the full URL where you want the traffic to be redirected (e.g.,
https://newdomain.com
).
- Choose redirection options:
- "Only redirect with www." – Redirects only if "www" is typed in the URL.
- "Redirect with or without www." – Redirects the domain regardless of "www" usage.
- "Do Not Redirect www." – The redirect will apply only if "www" is not used.
- Wild Card Redirect (optional):
- Check this box if you want all subdirectories and files to be redirected to the same structure on the new site.
Click "Add" to save the redirect.
