The cPanel File Manager is a convenient tool that allows you to manage your website files directly from the admin interface, without the need for an FTP client.
In this guide, you'll learn how to compress, decompress, extract, and upload files directly through the cPanel interface.
To access it, log in to your cPanel, go to the Files section, and click on File Manager.
- Compressing Files or Folders

In the window that appears, choose the desired compression format (ZIP, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2), name your archive, then click Compress Files to start the operation.
- Decompressing a Compressed File
To extract the contents of a compressed file in (.zip, .tar, .gz, or .bz2) format select the compressed file, then click on Extract.
Specify the destination path for the extraction, then click Extract Files to begin the process.
- Downloading a File or Folder
To download a file or folder, select the file or folder you wish to download, then click on Download in the toolbar.
